Life In The Suburbs

So Praveen and I have spent an unreal amount of time working in our front yard. We started by digging up all the weeds. Then we dug about 8 trenches by hand. We later found out that they have this really cool thing you can rent called a trencher. Ooops, too late! Next we put together a sprinkler system, buried it. Then, we went to India and all the weeds came back. We spent another few back breaking weekends pulling weeds until we could no longer walk before deciding, roundup was looking pretty good, despite whatever harmful things it does. We bought about $800 worth of rocks and built a rock wall. Our landscaper neighbor told us we did it wrong, so we did it again. Then we had $400 of dirt delivered. I think by this time some of our sprinkler heads were damaged so we replaced them. We spread the dirt around and finally we could begin planting. Planting is a tad bit challenging in Pacifica because EVERYTHING has to go into a gopher basket, which mean deeper holes and more hassle.



Finally we are now close to the finish line. We need a few more plants and we need the plants that we have to grow. The landscaper suggested a big rock near the front, but we’ll see.

Since Praveen never remembers anything how it WAS, I have taken some pictures of our baby plants so that one day we can look back at how grown up they have become.

Now it’s time to sit back and relax.
